主讲嘉宾简介:
Dr. Vivian C.H. Wu is Research Leader at Produce Safety and Microbiology Research Unit in USDA-ARS Western Regional Research Center, Albany, California. Prior to joining ARS in August 23, 2015, Dr. Wu served as Full Professor at the University of Maine where she led the Pathogenic Microbiology Laboratory. She received her Ph.D. degree in food science with emphases on microbiology under Dr. Daniel Y. C. Fung from Department of Animal Sciences and Industry at Kansas State University (K-State) in December 2002, and continued Post-Doctorate research work in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry and College of Veterinary Medicine at K-State. She was appointed as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Maine in October, 2003 and Cooperating Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology at the University of Maine in January, 2005. She was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2009, and Full Professor in 2014. Her expertise is in the areas of microbiology and food safety.
Dr. Wu is recognized nationally and internationally as an authority of food safety, pathogen detection, interventions, and functional foods. She has been awarded more than 11 million in external competitive grants to her research program. She received the Bimbo Pan-American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Award in 2013 for recognizing the achievement in developing biosensors for detection of foodborne pathogens. She received Chinese American Food Society (CAFS) Distinguished Service Award in 2012 and the Eastern Scholar Award in 2011. She is the President of Chinese American Food Society (CAFS). She serves on 14 journal editorial boards.
