(1) Paul Ross
Prof. Paul Ross is Head of the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science at University College Cork (UCC) since August 2014. Prior to that he was Head of the Teagasc (National) Food Research Programme (Moorepark & Ashtown Food Research Centres) which included the role of Managing Director of Moorepark Technology Ltd. - an ultramodern Dairy Pilot Plant facility. Paul is also Deputy Director of APC Microbiome Ireland - an Institute devoted to the study of the human microbiota and it’s relationship to food and human health. His main research interests are in gut microbiota, antimicrobial peptides, bacteriocins, bacteriophage, and anti-infectives.
Paul has a Ph.D. in Microbiology and was conferred in March 2009 with a D.Sc. from the National University of Ireland (N.U.I.) based on published works. He has won many awards including “The William C. Haines Dairy Science Award” by California Dairy Research Foundation in recognition of accomplishments in Research and Development providing significant contributions to the Dairy Industry (2007), Lifescience & Food Commercialisation Award Winner 2008 awarded by Enterprise Ireland (2008), International Dairy Federation’s Elie Metchnikoff Prize in Microbiology (2010), and the Distinguished Service Award from The American Dairy Science Association in June 2017. He was elected a member of The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) in May 2010 and is a Fellow of the American Academy for Microbiology (AAM) in 2014.
Paul Ross教授于爱尔兰国立科克大学获得微生物学博士学位,并于2009年被爱尔兰国立大学授予科学博士学位。他曾在美国维克森林大学从事博士后研究及担任助理教授。1993年加入爱尔兰农业部Teagasc食品研究中心,负责所有食品研究。自2014年至今,任科克大学理工与食品科学学院院长、爱尔兰APC肠道菌群研究中心副主任。他的研究领域涵盖了食品与健康的方方面面,包括:抗菌、抗感染、肠道菌群与宿主健康、乳酸菌与益生菌、噬菌体及噬菌体治疗等。发表600篇以上文章(被引25,893次,H指数82),科研总经费超1亿欧元。先后荣获了加州乳品协会威廉海恩斯乳业科学奖、国际乳品学会梅尼契科夫奖、美国乳品协会杰出贡献奖。Paul Ross教授于2010年当选爱尔兰皇家科学院院士,2014年当选美国微生物学院院士。
(2) Catherine Stanton
Prof. Catherine Stanton is Principal Research Officer at Teagasc (since 1994) and one of the nine original PI’s in the APC Microbiome Institute, Cork. Her research programme addresses food and health, including developing innovative dairy foods and probiotics that influence human health and gut microbiota. She has been involved in numerous national and international grants, including the coordination of FP5 funded EU-BIOCLA and JPI Food Processing for Health-Longlife (2016-2019). She was awarded D.Sc. from NUI (2009), based on her published work. She was appointed Adjunct Professor of UCC, College of Medicine and Health in 2012. Professor Stanton received the Elie Metchknoff AWARD 2010 for research on the application of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) in fermented dairy products to improve health. She has also been honoured with commercialisation awards from UCC (2012/2013), and received APC Scientist of the Year 2011.
CatherineStanton教授于英国朴茨茅斯大学获生物化学博士,并于2009年被爱尔兰国立大学授予科学博士学位,1994年加入爱尔兰农业部Teagasc食品研究所。现为Teagasc食品研究所首席研究员,爱尔兰APC肠道菌群研究中心PI。她的研究项目涉及食品和健康,包括开发影响人类健康和肠道微生物群的创新乳制品和益生菌。2012年被聘为科克大学医学与健康学院兼职教授。先后荣获了国际乳品学会梅尼契科夫奖、UCC的商业化奖项及APC年度杰出科学家等奖项。
