Main Purpose of Job

Job Title:

AnalyticalScientist

ØDrivingnutrients testmethod innovation and regulatory compliance to ensure timely new product launch in China

ØEstablish a knowledge database ofnutrients testmethods for nutritional product testing, form a network in China, involving testing laboratories, industrial players, regulators and government body in the area of analytical test method for nutritional product.

ØProvide technicalsupport on nutrientstest methodology related issues from Abbott Quality Assurance, R&D or Supply Chain.

ØProactively identify areas fornutrientstest method innovation and advancement and promote method standardization internally and externally

Main Responsibilities

Key Performance Indicators

Management & Leadership

ØEnsure analytical team’s delivery to project’s portfolio of the centre from early stage to product development

ØResponsible for nutrients test methoddevelopment andmethodtransfer to third party and laboratories within Abbott

ØIdentify and build capability (facility, equipment, personnel etc) in thenutrients labto support achieving business objectives for the Centre

ØLiaison with affiliates and external partners to drive impactful innovation innutrients testmethods

ØImplement technical exchange with internal &external labs

ØManagement of general lab processed required for day to day efficient operation and ensure compliance to all applicable safety and quality system requirement.

Technical and Performance Support

ØDevelop&Modify nutrients test method for new formula and special matrices

ØCo-ordinate / approvenutrients testmethod validation and transfer to 3rdparty laboratories in the region or laboratories within Abbott

ØLiaise with regulatory affairs, product developer and project managers to ensurenutrientstest methodology meet applicable regulatory requirement for product registration and importation in China.

ØSet-up laboratory processes to ensure efficient laboratory operation to meet business needs

ØActively identify areas for improvement in laboratory processes and implement new measure to improve efficiency.

ØMaintain nutrients lab to operate properly &safety

ØActively support talent development by providing customized training program.

ØOn-time and on-budgetnutrients testmethod development, validation and transfer to support product launch and ensure regulatory compliance for product registration

Qualifications

ØPh.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Food Science (emphasis in analysis) required

ØMin5years experiences in nutritional and food analysis

ØBreadth of experience with modern analytical methods of analysis, e.g., ICP, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, capillary GC, Near IR, etc.

ØKnowledge of regulations for food and nutritional product safety and testing methods in China.

ØExperience with quality system for testing laboratories desired

ØAffiliations with Professional Societies or Committees, e.g. Codex, AOAC, ISO, BIS, PFA, SSMS, SINC etc a plus

Knowledge

ØUnderstanding of quality and safety standards and guideline

ØExperience in setting up and running laboratories, getting permits, etc. for laboratories

ØGood understanding of business processes in a global organization

Job Title:

Food Scientist

ØConduct research projects in the area of ingredient qualification, process technology, or innovative products.

ØDevelop and revamp formula for new or line-extension product, driving product innovation through incorporation of new ingredients, processing and technology.

ØDriving and executing product development from ideation through bench-top studies, scale up and execution at manufacturing sites and third party services.

ØTranslate commercial initiatives into product prototype or finished product.

Main Responsibilities

Technical and Performance Support

ØProvide technical feedback on commercial initiatives and ensure smooth transition from ideation to feasibility studies.

ØDevelop, test, verify formulas & ingredients for purpose of commercializing new, or improving existing products in order to achieve enhanced or new efficacy,improved nutrients absorptivity,improved sensory characteristic, and / or improved margins.

ØPerform feasibility and optimization studies through lab or pilot scale studies.Update product development status/issues and interface with regional and global ANRD Teams.

ØProvide scientific or technical evidence to support business decision.

ØConduct scale-up and collaborate with manufacturing sites or third party manufacturer to execute plant trials and commercial production. .

ØCoordinate and interface with other functional departments to provide product assessment in the area of analytical testing, regulatory, nutrition, medical and safety etc.

ØConduct stability studies and provide shelf life recommendation on finished product.

ØSetting up, Managing and maintaining lab operation

ØGenerate new product innovation and ideas.

ØOn-time delivery of key project milestones. Comply with required sensory profile, regulation and safety.

ØOn-time delivery of invention regarding patent filing.
